Lock File and Folders
Icon Lock-iT XP gives you the flexibility to lock an individual
file, multiple files, or a folder itself. The process is very
similar with all three functions. To make your selection portable,
simply check the "Create self-decrypting file" checkbox
(see below) to create a self-extracting
executable to save or share.

| Locking an individual file, multiple files
or a folder with secure encryption and password protection is
easy. Icon Lock-iT adds the options "Lock Selected Files"
and "Unlock Selected Files"
to the context menu that appears when you right-click files
or folders. |

You will then be asked to type in a password
of your choosing. To help avoid typos, you must enter your
password twice. If you do type a different password, Icon
Lock-iT XP will prompt you for a correction. To avoid forgetting
or misplacing your password, you can type in a password
"hint".
Note: Password "hints"
are not available for multiple-file locking or unlocking.

As this screen shot indicates, multiple folders are
listed rather than one. As an added convenience, you can
review the folders to be locked at this time and selectively
uncheck any folders that you do not wish to lock. Although
not required, for added security, you may also choose
to lock each file in the locked folder(s). |
